The medical team at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital succeeded in ending the suffering of a man in his 60s complaining of constant bladder pain and chronic urinary tract infections. His urinary problems affected his daily life, in addition to his hypertension, diabetes, and heart problems.
Dr. Ameer Al-Araji, the urologist in charge, stated that the patient suffers from an enlarged prostate gland and bladder stones that are 5+ cm in size. His renal functions were also elevated.
Al-Araji added: “Using modern laparoscopic equipment, we were able to remove the patient’s prostate gland and break up the stones.” The surgery was performed under regional anesthesia and the patient was discharged from the hospital after a few hours in good health.
