The pediatrics team at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital saved the life of a premature baby suffering from infant respiratory distress syndrome (IRDS), a medical condition that affects 1% of newborns, especially pre-term babies.
Pediatrician Hayder Adil Al-Obaidy explains: “The baby weighed 1.8 kilograms and he was suffering from IRDS. We admitted him to the NICU where he was given Surfactant and put on C-pap.
Al-Obaidy adds: “The baby’s health condition was constantly monitored by our neonatalogists Mazin Qais and Afrah Abd Al-Abbas. The infant’s health started to improve throughout his 30 days stay at the NICU. At first, he relied on a feeding tube and gradually his mother was able to breastfeed him. He weighed 2 kilograms and was discharged in excellent health, praise be to Allah.”
Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital wishes everyone the best of health and prosperity.
