The medical staff at IHH performed a laparoscopy on a 60-year-old patient to remove a 47 mm staghorn renal stone.
The supervising surgeon, Dr. Yehyia Al-Khafaji commented on the operation: “The patient visited the hospital complaining of kidney pain. After the medical examination, it was determined that the patient had large staghorn renal stones that required surgical intervention. We performed laparoscopic surgery to remove the stones through a small, 1 cm incision”.
Dr. Yehiya added: “We were able to stabilize the patient’s condition despite her high blood pressure, low levels of blood sugar, and thyroid hormone. Everyone worked in unison, from the anesthesiologist to the nursing staff.”
