A medical team at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital performed a successful surgery to save the life of a 102-year-old patient after she suffered a complex fracture in the right hip joint.
Traumatology and orthopedic surgery specialist at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital, Dr. Haider Daher, stated that
“The patient visited the hospital suffering from a serious fracture in the right hip joint as a result of external force.”
He stated that
“The challenges we faced during the treatment of this case are the patient’s old age and her suffering from chronic diseases, including a stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes, in addition to heart failure.”
He adds:
“We decided to perform a surgical operation to stabilize the fracture using a lock implant, which is a modern technique that does not require a surgical opening, but rather is performed through three small incisions, only one centimeter long, through general anesthesia by anesthesiologist Dr. Abdul Amir Al-Nouri.”
Dr. Daher confirmed that
“The operation was performed successfully and the patient was discharged from the hospital 24 hours after it was performed and she is in good health.”
