His GCS score was 6 out of 15. <\/p>\n\n<p>Dr. Hussein Al-Hajj, head of the ICU, stated that: &#8220;The patient lost control over his upper respiratory tract due to losing consciousness which put the lungs and trachea at risk of pulmonary aspiration. In order to avoid this risk, we placed a breathing tube for the patient and we monitored his respiratory rate with a ventilator.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n<p>He added: &#8220;Gradually, the patient started to respond and regain consciousness and control of ventilation.&#8221; &#8220;After 5 days at the ICU, we decided to send him to the inpatient ward to continue his treatment.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n<p>The medical team that supervised the patient&#8217;s condition consists of neurologist Dr. Khattab Al-Khafaji, anesthesiologist\/intensivist Dr. Hussein Al-Hajj, in addition to an experienced staff of residents doctors and ICU nurses.<\/p>\n\n<p>Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital<\/p>\n\n<p>Advancing Hope and Life<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The medical team at the intensive care unit at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital gives their best efforts in dealing with different medical cases, including the case of a man in his 50s suffering from occipital lobe damage due to an acute oxygen deficiency.
