The medical team at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital saved the life of an elderly man suffering from acute heart failure that resulted in respiratory failure, low blood oxygen level, and impaired consciousness. He scored 6 out of 15 on the Glasgow Coma Scale. IHH Media Department reported that a medical team was formed, consisting of members from the emergency department, the ICU, and the cardiac catheterization department. Their combined efforts succeeded in saving the patient’s life.<\/p>\n\n
Dr. Hussein Al-Haj, head of the Intensive Care Department, explains: “The patient received primary care at the E.R., the cardiopulmonary resuscitation team was summoned to assess the patient’s health condition and they recommended that he’s admitted to the ICU immediately for intubation. The patient was kept under the observation of physicians, resident doctors, and expert nursing staff. He received conservative treatment and enteral nutrition. His sleeping position was frequently changed to prevent bedsores. The patient’s oxygen saturation and consciousness began to improve and he was extubated once he was able to breathe normally.”<\/p>\n\n
