Laparoscopic Pericystectomy for Hydatid Cysts of the Liver

The surgical team at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital, led by Dr. Abd Al-Razaq Khalaf and assisted by Dr. Emad Abd Al-Sahib Gaddoa, performed a minimally-invasive laparoscopic pericystectomy to remove a large hydatid cyst from the left lobe of a patient’s liver.

Dr. Emad Gaddoa stated that: “The removal of a hydatid cyst is usually done via a surgical procedure that requires making incisions in the patient’s body in order to have access to the location of the cyst or tumor, but it was replaced with a laparoscopic surgery to reduce the risks of complications and pain and so that the patient can return to his normal life within a short period of time.”

It’s worth mentioning that general surgeon Dr. Abd Al-Razaq Khalaf has recently joined the surgical team at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital to perform surgical procedures.
